Entry Fee Exemption and Online Safari Booking Quota for Maharashtra Forest Employees

Maharashtra Forest Department Safari Booking: Online Quota for Serving and Retired Employees

Nagpur | 27.02.2026

The Maharashtra Forest Department has proposed a dedicated online quota and login facility in the Safari Booking System for serving and retired Forest Department officers and employees. The proposal has been submitted to the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to facilitate the implementation of existing entry fee concessions in a transparent and efficient manner.

Under current government provisions, serving and retired Forest Department personnel, along with their dependent family members, are eligible for exemption from entry fees at National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Tiger Reserves, and other Protected Areas across Maharashtra. This concession is limited to a maximum of three visits per financial year.

As per the proposal, eligible beneficiaries will be required to complete online registration by submitting service credentials, identity proof, and other necessary documents. After verification and approval by the competent authority, users will be able to access the concession through a dedicated category in the online safari booking portal.

While entry fees will remain exempt, visitors will still be required to pay applicable guide fees, safari vehicle (gypsy) charges, and other prescribed safari-related fees. The benefit will be available only to eligible officers, employees, and their declared dependents. The physical presence of the eligible officer or employee during the visit will be mandatory.

The proposed system aims to improve transparency, prevent misuse of concessions, streamline safari booking procedures, and ensure better monitoring of benefits provided to Forest Department personnel visiting Maharashtra's protected areas.
